C’est dans un loft du Mile-End, à l’hiver 2006, que les deux auteurs, compositeurs et interprètes Louis David Jackson et Alex Cooper forment Parlovr, un duo “sloppy pop” qui devient vite un trio rock minimaliste explosant avec la venue du batteur Jeremy MacCuish.

Leur premier album éponyme, enregistré et produit par Martin Horn au Digital Bird Studios, sort indépendamment en octobre 2008. Encensé par la critique, l’album gagne en popularité. Communiquant une énergie brute, leurs prestations contribuent aussi à les faire connaître, à Montréal et ailleurs, en tant que groupe à surveiller. Parlovr se démarque avec une pop bruyante qui, entre guitares et piano, cris sauvages et falsetto, vascille entre deux styles de compositions totalement distincts, celui punk lover de Jackson, et celui indie noise de Cooper.

Récemment couronné Meilleur groupe en début de carrière dans le cadre du Gala des MIMI 2009, Parlovr en est à planifier une importante tournée qui, l’amenant d’abord sur les scènes du Québec, de l’Ontario et de l’Est du Canada - aux côtés d’actes reconnus tels que Sebastian Grainger, Winter Gloves, Most Serene Republic, Duchess Says et The D’Urbevilles -, le conduira dans l’Ouest du Canada et aux États-Unis à l’été 2009. Le groupe sera de retour dans la métropole à temps pour le Festival Osheaga, où il se produira le 2 août prochain.
