Corridor unveils the song Jump Cut with an enthralling music video, a few days before the release of their new album Mimi on Friday

Today, Corridor unveils Jump Cut, the third single off Mimi, their new album due out this Friday (April 26th, 2024) via Bonsound (Canada) and Sub Pop (rest of the world). Their long-awaited fourth full-length arrives almost five years after the release of their landmark album Junior. On October 4th, 2024, Corridor will play their first hometown show in years at Le National in Montréal. During the summer, the band will hit up the Canadian West Coast for performances at Sled Island in Calgary (June 20th) and the Westward Festival in Vancouver (June 22nd).

Jump Cut is pure psychedelic bliss, with hypnotic ziggurats of guitar lines aligning themselves in the distance as Jonathan Robert and Dominic Berthiaume’s vocals duck and weave throughout the lovely chaos of the song. Through concise yet evocative lyrics, Robert –who’s also responsible for Mimi’s cover art–reflects on feeling out of touch with the omnipresence and constant evolution of technology.

Corridor’s new song is accompanied by a video combining collage and animation directed by Winston Hacking, who has worked with Flying Lotus, Run the Jewels and Andy Shauf, among others. The video reflects the song’s theme of grappling with the overwhelming influence of technology and feeling adrift in its wake, says the director. Using AI to enhance archival footage resulted in a deliberate distortion, symbolizing the potential consequences of our intertwined relationship with it. It invites reflection on how technology blurs the lines of our identities and infiltrates every aspect of our lives.

In the next few weeks, Corridor will embark on a tour to support their new album Mimi. The tour also dates in the UK, Europe, and the United States throughout the year. See the list below for all tour dates and details.
