To mark Montréal $ud’s first anniversary, Dead Obies is releasing a book of the same title, designed to be a companion to the album. In addition to a glossary of terms used by the band, the book talks about the Dead Obies’ journey and the production of Montréal $ud, while dissecting the lyrics of the album’s 17 songs over more than 130 pages. You can order the book on bandcamp, or buy it in stores in a few weeks.
Nominated for Album of the Year - Hip-hop and Album of the Year - Critics’ Choice at this year’s L’Autre Gala de L’ADISQ, Montréal $ud is now available on CD in stores and on their bandcamp. First released on vinyl and in digital format in November of 2013, the post-rap band’s debut album also made it onto the 2014 Polaris Music Prize Long List.
Having won a cash prize awarded by CKOI 96.9 for the best showcase at the 2014 Rendez-vous Pros des Francos, Dead Obies will be off to conquer France in December, where they will perform in seven cities, including Paris and Rennes (at the Trans Musicales). In the meantime, be sure to catch them on November 21st at the SAT during M for Montreal.
