Pierre Kwenders and Clément Bazin present a music video for the Pedro da Linha remix of Sentiment, originally released as the first single off their collaborative EP Classe Tendresse . The EP, which includes this remix, was released in October 2020 via Bonsound (Canada and USA) and Nowadays (rest of the world).
With Sentiment, the Afro-Canadian singer-songwriter Pierre Kwenders declares his love for Africa and pays tribute to all the big cities that make the Mother Continent shine. Portuguese DJ Pedro da Linha’s remix gives a new life to the song, thanks to the singular and unmistakable sounds that define his work. Wishing to translate the unique cultural melting pot of the Lisbon suburbs with his beats, the producer finds himself at the vanguard of the electronic music revolution of the Portuguese capital.
The superimposed scenes on the screen are actually short videos shot using smartphones. While in Portugal, Pierre Kwenders and his gang had the idea to capture images of themselves reuniting with old friends and meeting new ones on video. While in Paris filming the music video for Ego (the second single off the EP), Pierre Kwenders and Moonshine collective member San Farafina decided to document the process in the same manner, hoping to eventually share behind the scenes content from the set.
Borrowing from a certain nostalgia, the result is an overlay of images reminiscent of home videos and of days when DVDs were commonplace. The music video also is an ode to the dance floor, a great place to meet people. The designs and dynamic editing are a result of the work by Trinidadian DJ and videographer foreigner.
Classe Tendresse is available on all music services.
