Safia Nolin returns with her new single PLS and announces the release of her new EP SEUM, to be released on October 29th via Bonsound. Like her previous single Rue de l'ours, PLS is available in two distinct versions, with slightly different lyrics: a moody "sunset version" with a definite pop sensibility that she recorded with a band, and a minimalist, acoustic "sunrise version", recorded in a Montreal alleyway sometime before the curfew was lifted.
This new track sets the table for the other three songs on SEUM, which will also be available in two versions. Co-produced by Safia and Félix Petit (Les Louanges, Laurence-Anne, Hubert Lenoir), this new offering distances itself from the acoustic style for which she is known. Joined by a band for the first time, Safia Nolin delivers tuneful grunge melodies and pushes her own boundaries as a singer-songwriter by using a variety of instruments and a wide range of sounds.
Safia Nolin’s new single is complemented by a feel-good video that she created herself. Combining a selection of Instagram-archived videos, colourful, kaleidoscopic sunsets and footage of happy times spent with friends, the video casts a joyful light on the song’s lyrics.
