Safia Nolin releases the video for Igloo, her very first original song. This new version of the previously released single will appear on her debut album, set to be released at the end of the summer via Bonsound.
To keep the never-ending winter chill at bay, the singer-songwriter builds a unique refuge in the middle of her apartment. The song is striking and emotionally-loaded, and her vocals manage to embody all of the world’s loneliness.
Upon first hearing the song, director Gabriel Poirier-Galarneau was reminded of an igloo-shaped art installation made of sixty or so speakers by Montreal interdisciplinary artist Alexis O’Hara. She agreed to re-create a version of her work for the purposes of this project, and the video’s construction whole heartedly embraces the song’s slow, waltz-like tempo. The result will leave you anything but cold.
