Montreal-based singer-songwriter LUMIÈRE unveils Rock Band, a spectacular glam rock single that sounds like it's straight out of the early 1970s. This is his first new track since his debut album A.M.I.E.S.A.M.O.U.R was released in May 2021 via Bonsound.
The song tells the story of a young musician who moves to the city in the hopes of becoming a popular singer. Both lucid and idealistic, he’s aware of the pitfalls of the show business and rock ’n’ roll lifestyle, but still looks forward to exploring them and living to the fullest. With its flamboyant chorus, LUMIÈRE’s latest rock bomb recalls the golden age of Queen and Elton John.
Rock Band is accompanied by a music video directed by Alexandre Pelletier. It's a great privilege and always a pleasure to work with LUMIÈRE, he says. His sound and his singular imagery inspire me a lot. For Rock Band, a very glam song, we imagined a resolutely classic music video, with an underlying narrative that goes in the same direction as the lyrics. Inspired by Bowie, Bolan and company, the video features LUMIÈRE performing in strange, playful and larger-than-life settings.
The single follows an eventful 2022 for LUMIÈRE, who performed in France on several occasions as the opening act for Pierre Lapointe as well as for French pop star Clara Luciani. In Quebec, he brought his project to the stages of several festivals, including Francos de Montréal, La Noce, Coup de Coeur Francophone and M for Montreal. He also celebrated the first anniversary of A.M.I.E.S.A.M.O.U.R with a show directed by Solène Paré at La Tulipe.
